Spices – Get Inspired

LuvMyRecipe.com - Spice Rub

“Spices – Get Inspired” as a title came about when I was looking at recipes for deep fried chicken wings.  You might ask how I got inspired for spices when searching for fried chicken recipes. Well on my search, I came across a recipe from Emeril Lagasse which called for a few tablespoons of Creole spice (Essence) and there was a recipe at the bottom of the chicken recipe for Emeril’s ESSENCE Creole Seasoning.

LuvMyRecipe.com - Spice RackAfter reading the recipe over, I said to myself… I used to make my own spice mix, why did I stop? It would be so easy to have the spices I use already mixed in the right amounts to the flavor profile I like. In other words, one spice jar instead of many all over the counter while cooking.

So I figured out what I wanted in my “Inspired Spice Mix” and how much I would need of each spice to balance and complement the flavors of each other and the recipe below is what I came up with. My inspired spice mix came out great, first try. I still have to break out the bunch of jars when I’m going for a different flavor but this is very handy to have around for an all around spice for cooking.
